Your Thompson Okanagan Update

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) has had a busy fall showcasing the Thompson Okanagan and the new Iconic brands throughout the region to top tier travel trade buyers and international media. The team hosted two media groups and two travel trade groups in September and October. We toured them through the Rainforest to Rockies route and Nature's Heartland in the Thompson Valley; and through the Valleys and Vineyards of the Okanagan Valley. These opportunities included taking part in hosting Destination BC's inaugural BC Accelerator Program in Kelowna, where 41 international travel trade buyers met with 41 BC businesses. Program attendees were amazed by all that Kelowna and the Thompson Okanagan has to offer.

On a sustainability note, we are pleased to announce that, after a successful renewal audit, the Thompson Okanagan remains a Biosphere Gold Certified Destination. This continued designation moves sustainability forward by encouraging the region's business community to make sustainable efforts and provides us access to real-time information on the global state of sustainability of the destination and its business community.

Through TOTA, the Thompson Okanagan region is a Biosphere Certified Gold Destination. On November 2, 2017, the Thompson Okanagan region was officially certified as the first destination in the Americas to have successfully achieved the Biosphere Tourism Destination Certification from the Responsible Tourism Institute.
