The Fork and Spoon Gala returns for a Second Year

Fermented Dining and the Central Okanagan Food Bank are pleased to announce the return of the Fork and Spoon Gala, one of last year’s most unique fundraisers. 14 of the top rated local Chefs will be cooking a 9 course tasting menu, as well as a black box canape competition using only food and ingredients donated to the food bank, all while cooking at the food bank’s newly-renovated, award winning facility located on Enterprise Way. This year, they’ve upped the ante by including 4 Bartenders, who will be taking part in a cocktail competition, live entertainment by musician Andrew Johns, and Kelowna’s own B Mack & Karly as MC’s. ‘This is an incredible event where top Chefs have the ability to showcase the amazing types of food donated to the food bank’, says Tammie Watson Interim Executive Director of the Central Okanagan Food Bank, ‘as well as demonstrate just how many extraordinary and healthy meals can be made with donated food, all while raising money for such an important cause’. The event will run from 5-10pm on Oct 5, and is an event you will not want to miss!

‘Supporting the Central Okanagan Food Bank is one of our core values’ says Cody Pollard, owner of Fermented Dining. ‘They provide so much assistance for those facing food insecurity within the community, from supplying food to other local nonprofits, to feeding over 4,000 local residents every month,

Last year’s event raised almost $20,000 for the food bank, and by adding more top local Chefs, as well as Bartenders and Live Entertainment, organizers hope to surpass that number this year. ‘Nobody should go hungry’, says Pollard, ‘and nobody should have to choose between rent and feeding their families. This is something we will always strive to rectify.”
