Hundreds of visitors beat the summer heat at Big White’s annual Ciderfest this past Saturday. The event, now in its fourth year, saw nine cideries from across the province pour 3,600 samples for roughly 1,000 festival goers. Cideries included Somersby, The BX Press Cidery, Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse and others.
In addition to the cider sampling, there was nine local craft vendors showcasing their wares – from jewelry to art to delicious treats – and a live show by local band Chipko Jones on the main stage in the Village.
“Summer was in full swing at Big White on Saturday,” says Bethan Wetheral, Guest Services Manager at the resort. “The Village was lined with craft vendors and cideries from all across BC as guests listened to the sounds of Chipko Jones and soaked up the sun at 5700 feet. There were endless smiles and laughs from guests enjoying the festivities – from Henna Tattoos to Dunk Tanks, live music to cider tastings it was a fun day for the whole family.”
On top of the Ciderfest success, the Big White Fire Department raised over $300 for the Fire Hall with the ‘Wet the WEP’ Dunk Tank.
Over the weekend, Big White offered 2 for 1 scenic chairlift rides to guests, bringing hundreds of people up to Rhonda Lake to take in the spectacular views. The hiking trails were busy with people enjoying the sun, wildflowers and exercise, and Bike Big White saw avid mountain bikers test out the newly opened Slopestyle Centre.
