Two new freeride trails are among the new bike features being built at Sun Peaks this year.
The two machine-built trails aimed at intermediate riders are the big highlight, according to a press release from the resort, as the resort company invests $350,000 on new and improved bike amenities. Steam Shovel (the jump line at the resort) and Progression Park (aimed at younger and newer riders) will be growing as well.
“Along with the new trails, the resort will continue running the Sunburst chairlift daily until 7 p.m. in the core summer months and extend the bike park season by running bonus weekends through the end of September,” states the release.
In all, 12 km of trails will be added to the biking sections of the resort.
“Sun Peaks has always been a destination for core downhill riders, and will continue to be, but now we’ll have a much more well-rounded mountain bike product to help create the same success we have seen with our winter ski experience,” says chief marketing officer Aidan Kelly in the release.
The bike park is scheduled to open June 21.
