Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser brand brings a “green” message and a bit of pop culture to its Super Bowl LIII commercial, released Wednesday.
The commercial, titled “Wind Never Felt Better,” features a Dalmatian dog enjoying the breeze atop the brand’s iconic Clydesdale hitch, moving alongside wind turbines, all set to Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
“Now brewed with wind power for a better tomorrow,” on-screen text states in the commercial, as a Budweiser-branded wind turbine comes into view.
The ad extends Budweiser’s announcement last year that it would be brewed with 100 percent renewable electricity from wind power. The company also said it is donating clean electricity to power the city of Atlanta the week it hosts the Super Bowl, set for Feb. 3 between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots. Parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev has set a goal of purchasing all its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
Miami’s David agency led the creative for Budweiser’s Super Bowl commercial, officials said. The 60-second ad released Wednesday will run as a 45-second commercial during the game, according to Advertising Age (click to watch the commercial).
“Super Bowl is one of the most exciting times of the year for our team, and people all over the country. Those who wait for the best commercials all year expect Budweiser to show up big, and we felt there was no better way to show up this year than to talk about our commitment to renewable electricity,” Ricardo Marques, Anheuser-Busch’s vice president of marketing core and value brands, said in a statement. “We are proud to be the first Anheuser-Busch brand and the first major beer brand to be brewed with 100 percent renewable electricity from wind power and hopefully we can use this moment to inspire others in our pursuit for a more sustainable future.”
