A festival dedicated to showcasing British Columbia food and wine returns to the Okanagan Valley this month, with an “outdoor extravaganza” at a well-known B.C. winery.
The BC Wine Insititute’s Chef Meets BC Grape event is back for its second year, this summer scaling back its presence in the Okanagan to include events in Vancouver and Calgary.
However, the main Okanagan attraction remains.
The Taste of the Okanagan event is a one-day festival, held at See Ya Laer Ranch, designed to “celebrate the best of BC wine and food—highlighting all things grown, crushed, raised and produced in British Columbia.”
More than 150 BC VQA wines will be available to sample and 12 food stations with plates prepared by the country’s top chefs will be available for guests to sample.
“Guests will meander throughout the vineyards and vistas of BC wine country for a day of wine education seminars, chef demonstrations, wine and food pairings, and live entertainment,” the BC Wine Institute explains.
The celebrity-filled event will also feature guest speaker Sonia Suner, Top Chef Canada head judge Mark McEwan, and Master of Wine Rhys Pender.
Joining McEwan in the lineup of celebrity chefs are other Food Network stars; Trevor Bird, Matthew Stowe and Jinhee Lee. Also participating are 11 top BC winery chefs and three notable chefs from the winning restaurants of Calgary’s Chef Meets BC Grape 2018.
