Musical Ride helps kids

The RCMP’s famed Musical Ride is coming to Kelowna.

Prospera Place announced the horseback spectacle will perform at the arena on Aug. 9 in support of Cops for Kids.

The troop of 32 riders in red serge and their horses performs intricate figures and drills choreographed to music, and is a Canadian cultural icon.

The Musical Ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada each year between May and October. The events have helped raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit organizations.

The riders act as ambassadors of goodwill who promote the RCMP’s image, heritage and traditions across Canada and all over the world.

In Kelowna, the performance will benefit Cops for Kids, which provides equipment and experiences for families of sick children.

There will be two shows. Tickets go on sale through Thursday, March 29, at 10 a.m. prices are $15 for children, $17 for seniors and $20 for adults, plus taxes and fees.
