People can literally go dashing through the snow on a horse-drawn sleigh at Historic O’Keefe Ranch later this month.
The ranch is offering six nights of sleigh rides – Dec. 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 30, with the rides taking place every half hour from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Participants can listen to the sleigh bells, warm up with complimentary hot cocoa and experience the power and beauty of the draft horses.
“Horses have a special place in our hearts. Not everyone gets to experience draft horses up close and personal. Part of our role at the ranch is to connect people with the animals that helped shape our history,” said Kelly MacIntosh, marketing and events co-ordinator
Guests are welcome to come early and explore the historic village decorated for Christmas, visit with the animals, and take photos on an old fashioned sleigh. Everyone is encouraged to dress for the weather or bring a blanket or seat cushion. In the event of little or no snow, the horses will pull wagons in place of sleighs. Please leave dogs in the comfort of your home.
The cost is $10 for children ages 4-12, $15 for adults, kids three and under are free and groups of six or more receive a 20 per cent discount.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available online or by calling 250-549-7469.
