Chinese Travel Experts on BC win the chance to visit the Thompson Okanagan
From Friday, September 22 until Tuesday, September 26, a group of Chinese Travel Agents and KOL (Key Opinion Leaders) visited the Thompson Okanagan region. They toured the region hosted by TOTA staff and stakeholders who delivered exceptional experiences to them throughout their stay.
Destination BC China successfully conducted the ‘Follow me to BC’ integrated travel trade campaigns for the last two years and are well-known travel trade initiatives with their travel trade industry. For 2017, they carried on with “Follow me to BC” as the main focus on the key second-tier cities where airlines started direct flights to Vancouver. The campaign echoes 2017 Destination BC China annual promotional theme “YOLO” as the major campaign theme both targeting travel trade and key opinion leaders in travel industry.
The Travel Agents were selected to visit based on their success in a contest to design and market a unique BC travel itinerary. After creating and submitting their entries and after the last round of assessment, their itineraries were made into high quality H5-Ebrochure and displayed on the campaign mini-site to attract votes from the citizens. Top 10 would be the final winners who would visit BC.
As the result from consumer voting to select 30 itineraries, 10 winners were granted with the title of BC Gold Itinerary Designer and won the chance of a BC familiarization tour. Meanwhile, the familiarization will help enhance their destination knowledge and better promote BC in future.
