Powwow set to wow

The ninth annual Youth Exhibition Powwow will celebrate Indigenous culture on Thursday – and everyone is invited.

Dancers and drummers from across B.C. will gather at Okanagan College’s Kelowna campus.

“Powwows are vibrant events and are full of excitement as it’s a time to come together and celebrate – celebrate our culture, celebrate Aboriginal youth and honour their educational journey,” said Anthony Isaac, Okanagan College Aboriginal services co-ordinator.

Those in attendance will get the chance to experience a variety of traditional Indigenous foods and crafts.

“The Powwow is … a place of cross-cultural learning for everyone,” said Isaac.

Festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and attendance is free.

It will also be streamed live here.
