Note September 8th to 10th, 2017 in your calendars as Startup Weekend is making a big
comeback with Techstars, the world’s starting point for entrepreneurship. This fifty-four-hour event is a platform where designers, developers, marketers, and startup enthusiasts can come together to launch startups.
As part of a global movement, Kamloops is one of over 1,142 cities in over 140 countries to
host similar Startup Weekend related events. Kamloops’ tech scene is thriving and with help from community minded volunteers, Startup Weekend is a locally focused event dedicated to fostering local entrepreneurship to strengthen this community. With a sustainable and accommodating backdrop at the Brown Family’s House of Learning at Thompson Rivers University, participants will form teams, create ideas and develop them over the course of the weekend with help from mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors.
“This event is not only for students, but for professionals of all ages looking to be more
involved in the tech and startup community”, says Amanda Chan, Community Builder at
Kamloops Innovation. With tickets targeted for students and community members, and
potential for sponsorship involvement, Startup Weekend promises to engage with its
participants to connect, discover, learn and start. The ticket price includes meals and
beverages, lots of swag, and all those little details for big ideas, including Wi-Fi and printing
Early bird tickets are now available through to August 25th, 2017 on Eventbrite. Ticket sales
resume until Friday, September 8th, 2017 at 4:00pm.
