Remote Control Water Testing at the Big Little Science Center
Saturday May 13 and on Saturday May 20 from 10am to 4pm
In collaboration with Thompson Rivers University. Visit with two researchers from TRU. They will introduce you to a remote control chemical analyzing machine, which is located at TRU. Then, take control and test TRU water samples for total nitrogen yourself, while at the science centre. Long distance research! Other water science related displays will be out as well. An awesome chance for secondary students to learn about TRU programs and research.
This event will feature an interactive visitor learning station for BLSC visitors to perform remote online instrumental analysis via the BC-Integrated Laboratory Network (BC-ILN). Visitors to the BLSC will be able to choose real water samples representing different environmental locations, initiate Total Nitrogen chemical analysis, and observe the sample analysis in real time. Two student research assistants who are experienced users of the remote instrument will facilitate all aspects of the activity, and be able to answer questions about the activity and their current research at TRU.
