TOTA attended the Destination BC Vancouver Media Event which included the launch of the Google Trekker Campaign.
Destination BC holds media events in the three key markets of Vancouver, Calgary and Seattle. These media events invite top media based in each city to a reception or dinner that allows regional DMOs and city DMO’s to interact and build relationships with journalists. At the Vancouver Media Event on March 21, Howard Grieve, Travel Trade and Media Specialist for TOTA attended and pitched story ideas to over 40 editors and writers.
As part of Team BC, TOTA had the pleasure of joining Destination BC in announcing the launch of the Google Trekker campaign. Using Google Street View, British Columbians and people from around the globe will be able to virtually hike in some of the province’s vast wilderness and be inspired by the powerful nature they see around them. The Google Trekker travelled through the Thompson Okanagan and focused on the Kettle Valley Rail Trail.
Significant interest has been shown by the media in the Kettle Valley Rail Trail and associated tourism products that have been built around it. Electric car touring along the Route 97 Corridor especially through the wine regions is another hot story idea.
