Thompson Okanagan Tourism and the BC Lodging and Campground Association promoted the features and attractions of the region at a booth and during multiple presentations at the 2017 Seattle RV Show February 9 - 12.
Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association and the BC Lodging and Campground Association teamed up to provide Seattle area residents with free camping guides and other promotional materials to help them plan their next visit to British Columbia.
Howard Grieve, Travel Trade and Media Specialist for TOTA attended the 4 day event in Seattle manning a booth and delivering a 45 minute presentation each of 4 days. A total of 800 BCLCA camping guides and over 900 TOTA destination brochures were handed out to people who stopped by the booth or attended the presentations.
There is strong interest in travel to Canada in particular the routing through to Alaska and the Rockies. Many Seattle residents are familiar with the area and visit to ski as well. Most Seattle area residents would describe how they travelled up the Interstate 5 to enter Canada so there was considerable interest in the Route 97 as an alternative route through North central Washington with entry at Osoyoos.
Nature and wildlife viewing in general were top questions that were asked along with general border crossing requirements, routes, travelling with pets and RV services. People in Seattle are aware of the currency exchange value but few knew how much it represents. Canada definitely stands out as a friendly, safe and affordable destination and most visitors to the booth are thinking of taking a trip soon or are planning one for 2017.
