TOTA attends the 2016 CITAP Golf Tournament and dinner at the Mayfair Lakes Golf Course in Richmond, BC
CITAP, the Canadian Inbound Tourism Association Asia Pacific, hosts an annual golf tournament at the Mayfair Lakes Golf Course in Richmond BC. This year’s event was held on July 19th and was attended by Howard Grieve, Travel Trade and Media Specialist. This event is an opportunity for tour and travel businesses to get together in a fun and team building environment to establish and strengthen relationships. The event provides ample time before, during and after the tournament to interact with buyers and sellers of travel products. An Asian Pacific Receptive Tour Operator is included in each foursome and then at the dinner, two or more will be seated at each table. Over 20 representatives from Receptive Tour Operators participated in the golf tournament with many more attending the dinner.
To increase exposure for the Thompson Okanagan region each year, two bottles of wine are provided for prize draw items. This year, Bill Bessho, Maple Fun Tours and Simon Zhang, Lion International Travel Services won the gifts through a name draw.
TOTA also attends the CITAP Winter Event and mini-marketplace held in Vancouver in December. Regular sales calls are made to the Vancouver Area offices of the RTO businesses and a fam is planned for September in region.
Destination BC was well represented at the event along with eight stakeholders from the Thompson Okanagan region who attended. Congratulations to Colin Brost, Tourism Sun Peaks, whose foursome won the tournament.
