BC Day Instameet with Shuswap Tourism

In honour of BC Day on August 1, 2016, Explore BC is helping to organize 20+ Instameets around the province as a way to celebrate.

What’s an Instameet? An Instameet is where a group of photographers and Instagrammers come together, at a pre-determined time and place, to take photos and share them to Instagram using the hashtag #exploreBCday #exploreShuswap.

This year, the the Shuswap is hosting our first Instameet starting at Salmon Arm’s Marine Peace Park, so there will be tons of inspiration.

Begin by joining us for a stroll down the wharf at Marine Peace Park. The Salmon Arm Wharf is the longest wooden curved wharf in North America and provides countless opportunities to watch the local wildlife and variety of bird species. It is also a great vantage point to take in the beautiful Shuswap Lake and stunning views of Mount Ida in the backdrop!

We will then head south to the The East Walkway of the Foreshore Walkway from the Wharf parking lot. This will connect you to the Raven Trail where there are viewing platforms of the sanctuary and a chance to stroll and view this beautiful landscape. The trail includes boardwalks and viewing platforms for excellent bird watching in one of the Province’s premier migratory estuaries, plus a side trail out to Christmas Island for fine views of the bay and waterfowl. This trail is all part of the Salmon Arm Nature Bay Trails.

We encourage you to enjoy the trails for a while and then head out to join us back at the trailhead around 2:30pm. From here we will take a walk through Downtown Salmon Arm. Walk down Alexander St and Hudson Ave and enjoy the many unique shops. We will be finishing at The Pink Cherry (111 Hudson Ave, Salmon Arm) where you can end the Instameet with a yummy cup of gelato, latte or one of their amazing grilled Paninis!
