Don’t miss a delightful concert with Rosemary Thomson (music director of the Okanagan Symphony), and the faculty from Strings the Thing summer camp, including local violinists John Suderman and Sandra Wilmot, one of BCs leading cello teachers Joel Stobbe, and the entertaining Calvin Dyck.
Highlights from the concert will include Vivaldis Concerto for Four Violins,
Summer from the Four Seasons featuring Adeline Bojczuk, a Beethoven Trio
featuring cellist Olivia Walsh, Paganinis famous Caprice No. 24, the exquisite
Spiegel im Spiegel by Avro Part, and the iconic James Bond theme.
The audience will be invited to participate by providing the cannon shots by
popping paper lunch bags in an arrangement of Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture.
Registrations are up 30% this year at Strings the Thing; an annual string camp
at the Shatford Centre in Penticton with close to 40 students from the Okanagan,
the Fraser Valley and Washington. The camp focuses on chamber music, an
orchestra repertoire, seminars and masterclasses. The students range in age from 6
to 66 and enjoy playing together in this supportive environment.
The music camp is both a positive learning environment and a celebration of great
music as the students explore the challenges of making music together.
The faculty concert will take place on Wednesday, July 6th at 7:30 at the Shatford
Centre. Tickets at the door: Adults $15, Students $5 Information: 250.770.7668
