Michael Poirier's play State of Confusion opens July 7
Tickets are now on sale for our next production State of Confusion by Vernon playwright Michael Poirier. This is a humourous look at what happens when young love collides with Canadian politics.
Matthew Cave (Jeff Swetlikoe in his Many Hats debut!) is a young hockey player that falls for a quiet young girl he meets at an Ottawa rink. After the second meeting, he is informed by Elizabeth, (Paige Prosser last seen in ‘Getting Sara Married) that her father is the Prime Minister of Canada. Not to be outdone, Matt reveals that his father Wendell (Rudy Nemechek) is a construction superintendent for a firm in Ottawa.
The ensuing courtship plays out at Matt’s house with his Wendell and Helen (Darci Anderson) trying to create a normal environment for the young lady… and her RCMP body guard Carl (Rob McCaffery.)
When Elizabeth decides that her father needs a lesson in reality, she sneaks off to Matt’s place with her body guard and father in hot pursuit. The Prime Minister, Steven Cauldwell, (Tony Collins also making his Many Hats debut!) has faced numerous challengers in his career, but none as complex as Mr. and Mrs. Cave.
State of Confusion opens July 7 and runs until July 30. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00PM with a Sunday Matinee at 2:00PM. All performances are on the Cannery Stage in the Cannery Trade Centre, 1475 Fairview Road, Penticton.
