Ladies and gentlemen, start your wine drinking!
The 22nd annual Spring Wine Festival kicks off wine tasting season in the Okanagan at the end of April.
The Okanagan Wine Festivals Society will run from April 28 until May 8, with events taking place all over the Okanagan Valley.
With the many diverse microclimates from Osoyoos to Kamloops, the region offers tastes that any wine-drinker can enjoy.
The festival’s events will be hosted at different wineries across the region.
It kicks off with the Best of Varietal wine awards on April 28 at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. More than 400 wines will be judged by 15 sommeliers and wine experts, and the best 26 wine varietals will be crowned. Tickets for the opening event are $50.
The WestJet Wine Tastings will follow on April 28 and 29 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna. More than 250 wines from 60 wineries will be available for tasting. Tickets are $75.
“This 10-day event truly marks the start of the early summer season bringing guests from around the country as well as internationally,” said Glenn Mandziuk, president of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Region.
