An Okanagan business has been recognized as a national finalist in an annual competition that celebrates family enterprises.
Okanagan Lavender and Herb Farm in Kelowna has been named as one of the finalists of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) Family Enterprise of the Year Award. A Nova Scotia company, Fisher Transport Ltd., was the other business also recognized in the competition. The family run business was given the 2016 Family Enterprise of the Year Award from the Okanagan chapter.
The 2016 national award was given to Saskatoon based financial planning firm Sutton Financial Group. The Family Enterprise of the Year Award was established in 1986 to recognize and celebrate the importance of family enterprise which constitutes an estimated 80 per cent of all business worldwide and 70-90 per cent of global GDP.
Previous recipients of the prestigious award include Rogers Communications, E.D. Smith & Sons Ltd. and Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company.
