Big White Ski Resort has had the best season in its history.
The 2016 season was full of incredible snowfall and record-breaking visitor numbers and was the most successful year in the resorts 53-year history.
Big White kicked off the season on Nov. 13, as the first B.C. resort to open. It was the earliest start for the season since 1997.
“It’s been an incredible year for Big White,” said Michael J. Ballingall, Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing.
“Huge snowfall, more accessible flight routes, and the strong U.S. dollar have all contributed to record-breaking numbers of visitors this season.”
With the U.S. dollar being strong the resort saw an increase of visitors from Washington State and more Canadians staying in the country instead of travelling.
The launch of the biggie card and the opening of the new Black Forest Day lodge also helped bring in more business.
Over the Easter long weekend 30cm of snow fell, which brought the snow base to 319cm and an cumulative snowfall to 946 cm.
Skiers and snowboarders are in luck because Big White will stay open until April 10 so people can experience the impressive amount of snow.
