The Big Little Science Centre will inspire our community’s children, their families and our teachers to explore and experience science in an entertaining and stimulating environment. Below is a list of our upcoming events in April.
Saturday April 9: Electrical Circuit Lab at 11am and 1:30pm
Learn how an electrical circuit works, then use this new information, wires, switches and batteries to run lights and motors. Discover different ways to connect the systems to run everything!
Saturday April 16: Remarkable Reptiles at 11am and 1:30pm
Meet and learn about many different reptiles from Elise Huffman, a qualified reptile caregiver. Elise will bring many of her rescued animals, to discuss how they live and how to keep them safe. Some animals will be happy to let you touch them, too.

Science Inquiry for Teachers of Kindergarten to Grade 9: supporting your work with the new curriculum
“Science is a verb!” So says Dr. Gordon Gore, founder of the BIG Little Science Centre and retired high school science teacher and university lecturer. Interactive, hands-on, problem based, project based activities are a great match for science learning. Join us to understand more about these topics, share ideas in break-out sessions (set up on the day according to the needs and wishes of the group), and to discover how the BIG Little Science Centre is able to support you in the classroom and, with your classes, at the centre itself!
Spend a day at the BIG Little Science Centre coming to terms with the new BC Science Curriculum and learning how it affects your classroom!
Saturday, April 23: Air Pressure Show at 11am and 1:30pm
Air is a force of nature that demands respect; join us for this interactive show to learn why. Watch out for falling water.
Saturday, April 30: Star Lab: see the stars, hear the stories!
At BIG Little Science Centre explore the skies above inside the Okanagan Science Centre’s Planetarium.
Learn about the legends and lore behind the stars, from your favourite guide through the galaxies, Kevin Aschenmeier.
