Annual sales calls to the Greater Vancouver receptive tour operators made March 14 and 15.
In partnership with Destination BC, regular sales calls were made in the Greater Vancouver area calling on key account Receptive Tour Operators by Howard Grieve, Travel Trade and Media Specialist for TOTA. Key accounts represent significant numbers of travel trade- generated room nights and other activities for both domestic and international travellers. Working with Destination BC to identify key accounts, and where possible joined by a representative of Destination BC, calls ranging in length of approx. 1 hour are made to update key account teams on new product, renovations and changes, new trade collateral and sample itineraries. This is an opportunity to update on market insight, business growth and future plans for tour offerings by the key accounts.
Over March 14 – 15, visits were made to six businesses in Richmond and downtown Vancouver. Fourteen RTO representatives were met with ranging from owners to coordinators and a short powerpoint presentation was provided on new export-ready product and planned expansions and updating of existing product. Laura Hoppe, Sales Manager for Asia with Destination BC accompanied Howard for a visit to ARA Professional Travel.
The most valued collateral material provided are maps and the TOTA Travel Trade Map and BC map were both provided in numbers. Our Story, which is designed to be used as both the TOTA out of region lure publication and the Travel Trade publication was distributed in numbers. Also provided was the powerpoint presentation and all collateral in electronic form on USB drives.
Subsequent follow to the calls delivered responses to requests for additional information, new product contact people through partner referrals and links to the TOTA Online Travel Trade Planner.
More visits are planned for the Fall to meet with additional key accounts and to coincide with a planned Asian RTO Fam into the Thompson Okanagan for itinerary planning.
