Team BC trains at Big White

Big White Ski Resort is currently hosting Team BC snowboard team.

The snowboard, snowcross and national development team is training at the resort’s snowcross venue at Telus Park before heading to North American and World Cup events.

The team will be joined at the camp by Kelowna’s provincial development team and will be mentored by Canadian Olympic gold medalist and world champion Maelle Ricker.

“This is a great opportunity for our provincial athletes to train alongside World-Cup-level athletes right here in BC,” said head coach Chris Nakonechny. “Working with Maelle to build a good pathway for the future is a huge benefit for our up-and-coming athletes, and it will be a great mentorship opportunity for our athletes to work alongside an Olympic champion.”

Big White and the BC Snowboard Association have had a long partnership in developing some of the country’s top up-and-coming snowboard cross athletes. This includes national team members such as Kevin Hill (X-Games gold medalist), Tess Critchlow and Katie Anderson.
