Kelowna hosts International Travel Trade Marketplace Nov 16 - 19, 2015
Canada’s West Marketplace travel trade show is a partnership between Travel Alberta and Destination British Columbia. This year, the marketplace took place at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort & Conference Centre in Kelowna, BC from November 16 – 19. This four-day, four-night event combines appointments, social events, networking opportunities, and pre/post familiarization tours into an intensive, but highly productive industry forum.
The trade show is divided into two separate appointment sessions – one for BC Sellers and one for Alberta Sellers. There are 50 appointments per session, each 10 minutes in length, with a two-minute changeover between appointments. 102 buyers, 138 BC sellers and 113 Alberta sellers attended the marketplace.
TOTA participated in the day and a half of BC appointments with a total of 58 meetings with buyers from around the world. The appointments were attended by Glenn Mandziuk, CEO and President and Howard Grieve, Travel Trade and Media Specialist. Buyers are International and Domestic Travel and Tour Operators and Sellers are BC and Alberta tourism suppliers.
TOTA also partnered with Tourism Kelowna to host a BC luncheon. While featuring an authentic Thompson Okanagan picnic menu, videos and imagery were displayed during lunch while introductions and welcome speeches were delivered. The BC Wine Institute and their members provided bottles of wine for a Buyer give-away draw. Miles Prodan, President of the BCWI was on hand to handout the prizes and further promote the VQA Wine members.
