Visitor Centre approved for DBC Pilot Project

Now closed for the season & pilot project update

The Thompson Okanagan Connector Visitor Centre is now closed for the season. It has been a very strong summer with visitor numbers exceeding last year. We look forward to reopening in May 2016.

In new news, we were excited to be selected as one of the provinces Pilot Projects to test innovative visitor services initiatives.

The project which we submitted and was subsequently approved was the installation of heat sensing cameras. This technology is regularly employed in large stores in the retail sector and high volume public facilities to assess visitor interactions to better plan and manage overall guest experiences, revenue generating opportunities, and optimize operations. The learning’s of this assessment will be documented and presented in a report on an annual basis to track long-term implications to Destination BC for planning considerations across the Visitor Network.

We look forward to sharing these findings at the TOTA Summit, October 28 – 29 at Manteo Resort, Kelowna.
