LinkBC’s general manager and board recently announced they will be closing the organization effective April 2016 and transitioning core activities to go2HR – BC’s tourism human resource association.
Since 1979, go2HR has served BC’s tourism and hospitality industry with programs and services that support its growth and success. They are the home of the BC Tourism Labour Market Strategy and resources and information designed to address recruitment, retention, and training of tourism and hospitality professionals.
Pending the transition agreement being formalized by both parties, the go2HR team will shadow LinkBC staff and begin to accept responsibility for key initiatives including the Student Case Competition, Student-Industry Rendezvous networking event, the Orange Book of Success career planning guide, partnering with industry on student financial awards, and an enhanced training and education directory.
“It was time for us to re-evaluate the efficiency of our operations,” says LinkBC GM Morgan Westcott. “When we looked at the resources required to maintain a separate organization, it made sense to transition our programs to go2HR.”
“In addition to having financial stability, and the impressive team needed to grow our programs,” she explains, “they have significant ties to industry and can provide a much-needed bridge into K-12 programs as well as international recruitment initiatives.”
Adds Harley Elias, chair of LinkBC’s advisory board: “go2HR’s mandate is well-aligned with our goals of connecting students to industry and supporting them in meaningful careers. They are financially sustainable, have a provincial reach, and strong regional partnerships.”

LinkBC’s team will oversee key events in the fall and early new year, and work to ensure their members are connected with the right representatives at go2HR prior to the official transition in April 2016.
