Rendez-vous Canada is Canada’s premier international tourism marketplace. The event reunites more than 1,500 international tourism professionals gathered over four days for a series of twelve-minute appointments to promote or discover unique Canadian experiences. RVC is an important industry-trade platform for Canadians to potentially generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the Canadian tourism business.
This year the event was held in Niagara Falls May 26 – 29 and was attended by Glenn Mandziuk, CEO and Howard Grieve, Travel Trade and Media Specialist, both taking buyer appointments. Michael J. Ballingall, Chair of the TOTA Board attended as an additional delegate promoting the region during professional development sessions, market updates, and all-delegate events. This year’s event was the first incorporating the new Team BC Branding as the attached photos show.
There were over 1,600 delegates attending this years event with, 921 sellers and 444 buyers attending and 135 media, other tourism services and organizers represented.
Over the 3 days of appointments, 96 buyers were scheduled between our two representatives. During the appointments, new business relationships are forged, existing relationships are strengthened, Travel Trade Collateral is distributed and market updates are acquired. Collateral includes print and electronic versions of Our Story, our new Travel Trade regional map, new export-ready product, Canadian Signature Experiences and electronic versions of sample itineraries.
Follow up includes entering and updating buyer information into the TOTA Simpleview CRM system, and sending out information and stakeholder contact information as requested. Buyers can request that a blind lead is used or that an active lead is used where our stakeholders will be advised that their product is of interest to the buyer and that both their contact information is shared.
Next year’s event will be held in Montreal, QC April 25 – 28, 2016
